Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love, connections and sharing moments that bring us closer together. This year Brooks is embracing the love that comes from movement and shared passions – and who better to explore that with one of Brooks’ Running Collective couples?

Meet Lukasz and Joanna Kopania, the dynamic duo whose love for running has not only fuelled personal fitness and happiness, but also strengthened their bond as a couple. We caught up with them for an exclusive Q&A to discuss love, running and how Brooks has helped them along their journey together!

As a couple, do you have any running traditions?

Post-run treats are non-negotiable! Nothing beats a well-earned pastry and coffee after a solid run. And for recovery? Sauna + ice bath = the ultimate power couple combo.

How do you incorporate training & running into your relationship?

We set shared goals—whether it’s prepping for a big race or just making it through an early morning run without one of us “accidentally” sleeping in. Working as a team makes it more fun (and keeps us accountable!).

How does running strengthen your relationship?

Running together adds adventure to our relationship—whether it’s exploring new routes, signing up for races, competition or just suffering through hill sprints side by side. It keeps things exciting (and gives us plenty to laugh about later).

Can you give any tips for couples who want to start running together?

Start slow, be patient, and don’t make it a competition (unless you both secretly enjoy that). And if you need extra motivation, join a running group—it’s like a built-in support crew!

What is your most memorable running moment together?

Those early morning runs where the world is quiet, and we catch an epic sunrise—just us, the coastal line, park or road the feeling that we could run forever (or at least until breakfast)

If you could run anywhere in the world together, where would it be?

Antarctica! Because nothing says “romantic getaway” like freezing our butts off on a run together.

Bottom line, the ideal time of day to exercise is when it is best for you. Although more research is needed in this area to draw a conclusion on exactly what time of day is the best to exercise, what we do know is that long-term exercise does in fact improve aerobic capacity, cardiac function, management of BMI, and strength. So, the evidence points to moving your body for overall wellness regardless of what time you do it.

Keep that spring in your step this season and embrace your Run Happy journey with Brooks Running!
