The Aurora-BL offers out-of-this-world cushion and gravity-defying softness on the run.
These aren’t your parents’ moon shoes
The Aurora-BL is one small stride in innovation from Brooks, and one giant leap for runner kind. This new, limited-edition shoe was born in our BlueLine Lab and inspired by the first time foot struck moon. What makes our BlueLine Lab so special? It’s home base for limited quantity, limit-pushing shoe technology.
The BlueLine Lab has the ability to quickly scale and leverage our innovative technologies while venturing into the unknown. We integrate new technologies into these shoes, then release them quickly to market, providing new experiences for all who run.
If you didn’t know, “blue line” is a term that comes from major marathons — it’s the fastest route from start to finish. Our BlueLine Lab uses the quickest path to get advanced prototypes developed and on to the feet of runners at lightning speed. The Hyperion Elite, Hyperion Tempo, and Catamount were all developed in this lab. The next great release — the Aurora-BL — is on its way.
Flash forward — From Hyperion Tempo to AuroraBL
The new Aurora-BL gets its nitrogen-infused roots from its BlueLine Lab cousin, the Hyperion Tempo. This shoe paved the way for our revolutionary cushioning process. We infused the Hyperion Tempo’s DNA FLASH cushion with nitrogen to deliver a fast, super lightweight ride with incredible energy return. We first used nitrogen infusion when we created DNA FLASH for the Hyperion Tempo shoe to help runners train harder so they could run faster on race day.
“Nitrogen infusion, a process known from outside of running in industries like coffee, for example, allowed us to hone in on the energy return of our foam compound and dial it up while also making it lighter. Nitrogen infusion now allows us to create distinct cushioning compounds that provide unique experiences depending on the type of run or result a runner is looking for,” Bhark explained.
To create a whole new world of softness and give you the most amplified cushion experience yet, we injected our DNA LOFT foam with nitrogen. The result is the DNA LOFT v3 cushioning in the Aurora-BL.
So what’s the difference between DNA LOFT v3 and DNA FLASH? Essentially, the size of the cell structure in the cushioning.
“They are both nitrogen infused with each technology offering a unique experience for the runner. DNA FLASH
found within the Hyperion Tempo includes a smaller cell structure which offers the runner a speed performance benefit. In comparison, the DNA LOFT v3 technology within the Aurora-BL obtains a larger cell structure to provide the runner with a greater cushioning experience,” Bhark said.
The Aurora-BL will leave you feeling over the moon
What we love about the nitrogen infusion process we use at Brooks is that we can amplify a trait like energy return or softness individually without affecting other qualities of the foam. This leads to new technologies and improved experiences for runners.
We’ve discussed the Aurora-BL’s DNA LOFT v3 at length (hey, we’re proud of this nerd stuff), but for those of you in the back — this cushioning will make for softer, lighter, and more responsive landings on the run. The shaped heel and toe of the Glide Roll technology delivers smooth transitions, which are perfect for takeoffs and landings. And the Aurora-BL’s unique decoupled midsole allows your heel and forefoot to move independent of each other, so you can move the way your body wants to. Ready to run on the moon?
