Most of our styles are designed to move with you, but our Max shoes, they’re designed to move for you. The Brooks Ghost Max 3 running shoes refine the max ecosystem, offering protection and cushioning in every step.
We place Ghost Max 3 in a hybrid position, bleeding into both our Cushioned shoes (Ghost 17 & Glycerin 22) and Solution shoes (Zeal Walker & Beast/Ariel GTS 24) categories. It’s still a running shoe, and will perform as one, but is also so well suited for the activities of our weekend warriors, walkers and workers.

Ghost Max 3: Features
At a 28mm heel and 22mm forefoot, the 6mm pitch stays true to its predecessor. This lower offset helps to shift pressure away from the forefoot, while the higher stack protects underfoot. The weight also holds steady at the same 306 grams in a men’s US 9.
The Ghost Max 3 is built on a straight last, minimising the curve from heel to toe and helping to spread weight more evenly across the shoe. This means increased width through midfoot and a higher volume fit. The new update boasts a wider forefoot, maximising the protection it offers under the toes, but as always, Brooks Ghost Max 3 cushioned running shoe comes in Standard, Wide, and Extra-Wide width options. This model should easily accommodate any fitting concerns, be it high insteps, wide feet or medical orthosis. Shop now!
Ghost Max 3: What's new?
Referencing the curved geometry of the midsole, our signature GlideRoll Rocker returns in the Ghost Max 3. This unique shaping and longitudinal stiffening actively assists the transition from heel to toe, promoting a smooth forward motion. Specifically, the forefoot rocker prohibits the shoe from flexing underneath the first Metatarsophalangeal Joint (MTPJ), effectively offloading the forefoot when moving into plantar flexion. This combination of shoe geometry and biomechanical understanding allows us to utilise this optimised bending stiffness to its full effect, while continuing to feel natural and comfortable underfoot.
The high stack of nitrogen-infused DNA LOFT v3 returns in our latest update. This soft, yet balanced, midsole helps decrease pressure underfoot for comfort and protection. And thanks to our large-cell foaming process, we get increased softness, decreased weight, and improved energy return, all without sacrificing durability.
Underfoot, the outsole has been refined to heighten the smooth transitions from heel to toe. RoadTack Rubber offers lightweight durability while staying eco-friendly by utilising recycled materials. A central heel de-coupling allows for dynamic flex from heel strike to midfoot, helping to keep runners in their habitual motion path. The upper has also been enhanced to our double jacquard air mesh upper, with new high-fidelity textiles and a softer feel. Altogether, achieving the durability and luxury our customers expect, while remaining Certified Carbon Neutral.
